The Iranian embassy in Armenia criticized U.S. President Donald Trump after his comments about the funeral ceremonies of late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In a post on X, the embassy said that “people can be killed, but ideals cannot,” adding that although Khamenei had been killed, his legacy would continue. It also stated: “You killed Ayatollah Khamenei, but in reality, you broke a perfume bottle whose scent spread everywhere.”
The embassy further criticized Trump directly, saying: “You don’t understand these things because you have neither civilization, nor history, nor honor.” The remarks came in response to comments attributed to Trump about the funeral gathering.
Speaking to Axios, Trump said he was watching Khamenei’s funeral and noted that mourners were gathered in one place. He added that the United States would not take action because otherwise it would have no one left with whom to negotiate.
