Seoul: K-pop sensation aespa marked their fifth debut anniversary with new music and celebratory content, but the milestone was overshadowed by the unexpected absence of member Winter, who missed the concert due to severe flu symptoms.
The group’s celebration, meant to highlight their remarkable five-year journey, turned emotional as fans expressed concern for her health.
aespa officially celebrated their fifth anniversary on November 17, 2025, five years after their powerful debut with Black Mamba on November 17, 2020. Since then, the group has delivered multiple hit tracks, including Next Level, Savage, Supernova, Armageddon, Whiplash, and Rich Man, solidifying their global presence.

To commemorate the milestone, aespa released “aespa 2025 Special Digital Single – SYNK: AXIS LINE,” featuring solo tracks performed individually by Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning. These songs were originally showcased during the group’s third solo concert.

However, the celebratory mood shifted when fans learned that Winter would not be able to attend the concert. According to SM Entertainment,
“Winter visited the hospital after the previous day’s performance and was diagnosed with cold and flu-like symptoms. Following the doctor’s recommendation for sufficient rest, participating in the scheduled soundcheck event and concert was deemed impossible.”

Despite her absence, Winter still expressed gratitude toward fans on their anniversary. aespa’s official social media shared photos of the members celebrating with cakes designed after their characters. Winter appeared bundled up in a thick coat and mask indoors, prompting concern and sympathy from fans worldwide.

While the anniversary highlighted aespa’s impressive achievements over the past five years, Winter’s health update brought mixed emotions, leaving fans hopeful for her quick recovery. The group assured supporters that she will return to scheduled activities once fully recovered.
