Chief Minister Punjab sardar Usman Buzdar said that Punjab government will send five thousand tons of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on regular basis as a goodwill gesture to overcome the shortage of flour.

According to the details, the decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in Lahore on Monday.

The meeting also reviewed availability of flour, its price and measures regarding its uninterrupted supply.

Addressing the meeting, the CM Punjab directed to take concrete measures for stability in the price of flour.

Earlier, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar conducted raids at various sale points of flour in Jaranwala.

CM Usman Buzdar took an action and suspended officials of provincial food department besides making an assistant commissioner as OSD.

He received complaints of local people about shortage of flour stock.

Later, the Chief Minister said there is adequate stock of flour with the Punjab government.

Flour is available at all sale points on the official fixed prices, he said.

Moreover, Nanbais in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa observe strike against shortage of flour and to increase price of naan and roti here on Monday.

Nanbais Association President said the sack of 85kg flour now sold at Rs.52,00 in the area.

We cannot sell the naan and roti in this regard, he said.

Furthermore, he demanded to fix price of naan and roti to 15 rupees in the province.

He said the strike will expand to other parts of the province, if their demands not fulfilled.

The rise in the price of wheat flour across the country and its acute shortage in several cities has brought severe crisis for the general public.

Yesterday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister, Firdous Ashiq Awan, said some elements have continued negative propaganda regarding wheat flour prices.

Firdous Ashiq said she has given the task to deal with the matter related to the artificial crisis of wheat flour in Punjab.

She was of the view that it is necessary to stop negative propaganda.

However, she said, Sindh government has not purchased wheat on time.
