Millions of locusts attacked standing crop in Sakrand and its environs of Province Sindh.

Farmers and cultivators see the loss of their crops in front of their eyes and they have to bear the loss of millions of rupees.

Farmers and cultivators were already facing difficulties due to the coronavirus lockdown now they have to bear this loss too.

The farmers said that when we came to our land in the morning, we saw a Locusts attack in our tomato crop, Cotton crop, Okra crop and mustard crop and even they did not even spare the grass, everything was destroyed and ruined in front of them, they added.

They also demanded Sindh government to help them and said, “the locust attack has destroyed us. Now we have no resources left. We need to cultivate our land again. We appeal to the Sindh government to provide us cotton seeds and fertilizer free of cost so that we can cultivate our land again and feed our children.”

Locusts also invaded and destroyed millions of acres in the Thal Desert too.

According to the administration, locusts destroyed melons and watermelon crops in many areas and also destroyed the leaves of trees.

Despite the spray, the administration failed to control the locusts. DC said that the operation against the locusts was underway and all possible steps were being taken to prevent them.

In Province Punjab, operations are underway in different parts of the district to eradicate locusts.

Under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue and Assistant Commissioner Lahore, an operation was carried out against the locusts, which included officers and officials of the district administration, Pakistan Army and Agriculture Department.
