All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA) sent a letter to the Ministry of Commerce to commence mango exports in the country from June 1 instead of May 20.
PFVA director Haider Ahmed says that due to climate change, the mango crop may not be ready till May 20, while there is a shortage of labor in mango orchards as well.
According to Waheed Ahmed, the export of raw mangoes will affect the reputation of Pakistan, while the absence of fragrance and sweetness will be detrimental to the export of raw mangoes. Exporting raw mangoes will also lower the price, he added.
The Federal Ministry of Commerce has fixed the start-off date for export of mangoes as May 20.
It is to be noted that Sindhri, Chaunsa Langra are some of very famous mango variety from Pakistan and among the best Mangoes of the World.
Chaunsa is called as King of mangoes in the world and it is cultivar that originated in Multan, Pakistan.
