President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that Pakistan will stand by Kashmir while India is backtracking on its promises made to the international community. The world should recognize India’s irresponsible behavior as nuclear power.

Addressing a function in Islamabad, he said that India was using all means to suppress the sentiments of the people of Kashmir in occupied Kashmir which was a violation of their fundamental rights.

He said that Kashmiri people were continuing their struggle against Indian domination.

The President said that it was the responsibility of Pakistan to support the Kashmiri people in their struggle and to make the international community aware of the Kashmir issue.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had persuaded the UN General Assembly to hold a referendum in the occupied valley and provide them justice.

Dr. Arif Alvi rejected the international community’s view that the Kashmir issue was merely a state dispute.

He condemned the abolition of special status of occupied Kashmir and said that India was increasing the proportion of population in the valley.

The President said that we have to stop this and support the Kashmiri people in their psychological, social and societal struggle.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had invited India for talks but New Delhi had taken an aggressive stance and launched a cross-border attack after the Pulwama incident.

He said that the world should recognize that India is an irresponsible nuclear power.

Dr. Arif Alvi said that Pakistan had not carried out the first nuclear detonation by India and India had tried to start a nuclear war on a limited scale.

He said that India attacked Pakistan to win the elections.

It may be recalled that on August 5 last year, the Modi government had not only divided occupied Kashmir into two federal units instead of a state, but had also allowed non-Kashmiris to buy land there to change the proportion of the valley’s population.
