Toronto: Sky-watchers are informed beforehand to be on the lookout for the Perseid Meteor Shower, as it is expected to illuminate in the sky, on Wednesday night.

Perseids are one of the most plentiful showers as around 100 meteors are visible from a naked eye, at a time. NASA quotes it as, “the best meteor shower of the year”.

The meteor shower is named after the famous Greek god, Perseus, the hero who slayed Medusa; and so, the idea is taken from the constellation Perseus.

The Canadian Space Agency suggests the best time and place to view the shower is sometime between moonset and dawn, from the countryside as lights make fainter meteors impossible to view.

In case it becomes impossible to catch Perseids in the specified location, NASA will run a livestream on its social media platform, from 11 pm to 6 am. Furthermore, the meteors will remain visible until August 24. Moreover, the next shower, Draconids is reported to take place in October.
