Microsoft is starting testing a new 4k dashboard for the Xbox Series X from today. Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings will be the first to get access to the increased resolution for the Xbox dashboard. It will have an improved UI for 4k displays.
“This change means Home, Guide, and other areas of the UI will be displayed in a higher native resolution for increased sharpness and text readability,” says Microsoft’s Xbox testing team.
Before the new 4k dashboards, Xbox Series X has been using traditional 1080p resolution. The new resolution will completely change the experience on 4k displays.
However, it is still unclear whether Xbox Series X will have support for HDR alongside new improved resolution. Also, whether Xbox Series S will also have new improved dashboard resolution too.
The Series S can output at 4k, so there is a possibility that its dashboard will get improvements.
The new bumped resolutions come just after Microsoft introduced night mode to its Insider users.
The new night mode allows users to dim console light or their controller’s LED brightness.
Both of these new features should start rolling out to all Series X consoles later this year.
