ISLAMABAD: Taking notice of the deteriorating law and order situation in the country due to an ongoing protest by the outlawed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) today.

“In view of the situation arising due to the illegal activities of a banned outfit, Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a meeting of the National Security Committee tomorrow,” tweeted Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday.

The minister said that the committee will also review other national security matters during the meeting.

Govt engages with outlawed TLP

The minister’s announcement of the meeting comes as TLP’s march towards Islamabad resumed on Thursday with the protestors entering Gujranwala.

A large number of protesters are marching towards Islamabad to press the government not only for the release of TLP leader Saad Rizvi but also for the expulsion of the French envoy from the country. They have been demanding the French envoy’s expulsion over the blasphemous content shared and promoted in the European country that hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims across the world.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has made it clear that no such demand of closing an embassy or expelling an ambassador would be accepted.

However, sources told Bol News that another round of talks between the government and the banned TLP is underway in Islamabad.
