Cop commits suicide during a quarrel with second wife

KARACHI: A police official allegedly committed suicide during an altercation with his second wife on Saturday in Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Karachi.

Police said ASI Tariq Yameen was posted at Security-II, which provides guards, gunmen, escorts and drivers to VIPs. He had two marriages and would often have heated arguments with his second wife.

Police said the 40-year-old drew his gun, pointed it towards his chin and pulled the trigger. Tariq shot in the jaw and the bullet went through his head.

“He drew the gun for threatening to shoot wife, but ended up taking his own life,” said police.

Police have launched an investigation. Tariq’s stepson was also at home at the time of the incident, so police have recorded his statement as well. While, post-mortem of the body is being conducted at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

A pistol and shell of the bullet has been recovered from the house.

On November 19, a man had killed his maternal uncle and aunty over refusing his marriage proposal for their daughter in Sargodha.

Because of the dispute over domestic issues with his family, the victim Riaz had refused a marriage proposal of his nephew Adeel.
