ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Javed Khan on Thursday said political parties should not politicise the issue of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Earlier, as per the International Court of Justice (ICJ) decision, the joint session had passed to grant the Indian spy the right to appeal against his death sentence.

Kulbhushan Jadhav was arrested on March 24, 2016, from Balochistan. In his statement, he confessed that he was an officer of the Indian navy working for the covert agency, RAW, to destabilise Pakistan.

While talking to the media, AGP Khalid Javed said that India was trying to isolate Pakistan, as Delhi was planning to take Kulbhushan’s matter to the ICJ and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

He further said that the legislation to allow Kulbhushan to exercise the right of appeal against his sentence was done according to the ICJ’s ruling.

“Political parties shouldn’t politicise the matter. I am ready to brief them if they want,” the AGP said.

It is pertinent here to mention that the Indian spy was tried by Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under section 59 of Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952 and Section 3 of official Secret Act of 1923. FGCM found Kulbushan Sudhir Yadhav guilty of all the charges.

On April 10, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence awarded by the FGCM.
