ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday accepted Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan’s request to resign from his ministry to avoid conflict of interest because of his recent business expansion.
Confirming the development after a meeting with the premier at the PM secretariat, he said that to maintain transparency it is important for him to resign from the public office. “This is why I requested the premier to accept my resignation,” he said.
“I am really grateful to the prime minister for accepting my request, Khan said. I will be sending my resignation to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar,” he further added.
Khan, earlier, informed the press that he had twice sent his resignation to the premier but it was not accepted by him.
“I asked the prime minister six months back to allow me to step down […] and when he allows, I will resign from my post,” the minister had said.
