KARACHI: As many as seven gangsters involved in bank robberies in Surjani Town and Docks areas were arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Friday.

The accused were identified as Omar Farooq, Omar Khalil alias Akhta,  Haroon Ali alias Sajjad, Mohammad Sarwar alias Jutt, Shehzad Raza, Syed Tahir Hussain Zaidi and Nazir Ahmed

Weapons and two motorcycles were also recovered from the suspects.

The cases have been registered under the Sindh Arms Act against the accused for illegal arms export.

During the interrogation, the accused have revealed their involvement in several other street crime incidents in East, Central and West districts, including robbing people who had taken cash from banks.

The suspects have previously been arrested in a number of cases, including robberies, illegal weapons and drugs. Police said that the accused are under further investigation.

Similarly, City police arrested two accused involved in drug trafficking.

The accused were arrested from Kalri police station and Baghdadi area identified as Khan Bahadur and Ghulam Ali. The accused were arrested during snap checking and patrolling, said SSP City.

Cases have been registered against the accused in the concerned police stations that are under investigation. Furthermore, previous criminal record of the accused is also being ascertained.
