Nepra approves Rs3.75/kWh hike in consumer tariff

KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed K-Electric Limited to collect an additional Rs3.75/kWh from the consumers under the fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for September 2021.

The K-Electric will recover from the consumers in their monthly bills of December 2021. It said the increase in tariff will not be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers.

Last week, Nepra had approved an increase of Rs4.74/unit in tariffs of power distribution companies for October 2021 under the monthly fuel component adjustment.

The K-Electric has invited Nepra to attend the meeting with the stakeholders for the resolution of its low gas pressure issue.

It informed Nepra that it was in the process of resolving the lower gas pressure issue, which was causing under-utilisation of efficient plants.

The K-Electric said there were certain meetings with the stakeholders that would take place in due course of time.

Nepra has granted time till the meetings with the stakeholders before the amount on account of lesser generation due to low gas pressure is withheld from its claim.
