According to Abdul Razak Dawood who is a Commerce and Investment Advisor to the Prime Minister, Pakistan produced 18.87 million mobile phones in the first ten months of 2021 (January to October).
Abdul Razak Dawood wrote on Twitter “MOC (Ministry of Commerce) is pleased to announce that during the period of Jan to Oct 2021, Domestic manufacturing mobile plants in Pakistan produced 18.87 million mobile units, including 7.93 million 4G mobile phones compared to 9.45 million imported mobile phones,”

He said in another tweet that “MOC’s “Make in Pakistan” philosophy is giving the results and we look forward to sustainable growth for the long run.”

The “Make in Pakistan” philosophy is aiming to make Pakistan a self-sufficient country, which would ultimately lead to lesser imports and increased exports.
Earlier this month, the Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Inc from Beijing, revealed its plans to set up factories to manufacture smartphones in Pakistan in partnership with a local distributor, Air Link Communication Limited.
The “Make in Pakistan” philosophy aims to make Pakistan self-sufficient, resulting in lower imports and higher exports in the long run.
