Amid a no-confidence motion by the opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan to oust his government, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan on Wednesday said that whoever leaves the premier, it would become difficult for them to make a comeback in politics.

“Whoever leaves [Prime Minister Imran Khan], it will become impossible for them to win from their constituency, just like the fate of Javed Hashmi,” he claimed on Twitter.

“It will be difficult [for them] to make a comeback in politics,” he added.

“The public is with Imran Khan. The PTI ticket will be in top demand during the 2023 general elections. Inshallah, on one seat, there will be ten ticket seekers.”

Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has recently claimed that the opposition has the “more than required” lawmakers to pass the no-confidence motion against PM Imran in the National Assembly.

In an interview with a local news channel on Tuesday, he also warned there were “plenty of surprises in store.”

The PML-Q is an ally of the PTI government in Punjab. On the other hand, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – an alliance of the opposition parties, including PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F – seeks its votes to dislodge the government as the party has five NA seats.

Blaming the PTI government for its position, the PML-Q leader said it never learned how to build ties and instead “ruined things with everyone, including its own people.”

According to Elahi, the opposition had offered him Punjab’s chief ministership, but the government had yet to make that offer.
