Almost 1.6 billion Muslims across the world take fast in this holy month of Ramadan by following the path of Prophet Muhammad PBUH and to please Allah Almighty. It is the most sacred month of the year for Muslims, as the Prophet Mohammed reportedly said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1899: Book 30, Hadith 9)

It is also meant to be a time for Muslims to revitalize their Imaan by engaging in long hours of dedicated worship of Allah, performing prayers, good deeds, spiritual discipline and seeking forgiveness from Him. Nightly prayers called Tarawih are also held in mosques after Isha Prayer in the month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is also a reminder for Muslims to increased charity and generosity by remembering the less privileged brother and sisters who cannot afford Sehri and Iftar. Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, It is common for mosques to host Sehri and Iftar dinner.
