
Eight dead as workers clash at Mexico cement plant
A conflict among rival companies of workers at a cement plant in important Mexico left as a minimum of 8 people dead and nearly a dozen injured on Wednesday, authorities stated.
The unrest broke out at an entrance to the web page operated with the aid of Cruz Azul, a cooperative owned by using employees, consistent with the governor of the crucial state of Hidalgo, Omar Fayad.
“I strongly condemn the violent clashes that occurred at the Cruz Azul Cooperative in Tula, which have so far left eight dead, 11 injured and nine detained,” he tweeted.
Fayad said that he had given instructions to his officials to promote dialogue to prevent a repeat of the unrest, which was reported to have caused damage to facilities and cars.
Workers have been armed with sticks, rods and firearms, consistent with witnesses quoted by means of Mexican media.
The dawn war of words is believed to be linked to a protracted-status dispute among employees over manipulate of the plant’s management.
