After a day of skirmishes at Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound, Palestinian militants in Gaza fired two rockets at Israel late Friday, according to the army.

According to the military, one rocket landed in an open field in the Sha’ar Hanegev regional council close to the border fence, while the second fell short in the Hamas-run coastal enclave.

“A rocket hit an open field near the border fence with northern Gaza. Another rocket hit inside the (Gaza) Strip,” the Israeli army said on Twitter, noting air raid sirens were not activated in the latest attack.

According to Palestinian media, the botched missile landed near a residential area of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, injuring one person. Gaza’s medical officials have yet to issue a remark on the matter.
