Beto O’Rourke, a Democratic gubernatorial contender, sought to undermine Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s response to Wednesday’s killing in Uvalde, Texas.

Abbott talked for around five minutes before trying to pass the microphone to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, at which moment O’Rourke entered the room.

Only a few of O’Rourke’s comments were heard, but he was yelling at the stage and pointing furiously at it.

At one point, O’Rourke stated, “You’re doing nothing.”

“Sir, you are out of line; please exit this auditorium,” Patrick said.

Mayor Don McLaughlin of Uvalde also yelled at O’Rourke, calling him a “sick son of a bitch.”

After then, O’Rourke was led from the auditorium.

Prior to the interruption, Abbott applauded the cops’ actions in stopping the attack from becoming more serious. According to one cop who rushed to the shooting, his daughter was killed in the attack.

Abbott went on to say that the shooter, Salvador Ramos, 18, shot his grandmother before committing the crime. He then wrecked his car outside Robb Elementary School and opened fire on officers before entering two classrooms.

Ramos had made three Facebook posts in the 30 minutes preceding up to the shooting, according to Abbott.

Ramos was the first to post, “I’m going to shoot my granny.”

He added a few minutes later, “I shot my granny.”

The third post stated, “I’m going to shoot an elementary school.”

Instead of calling for gun control legislation, Abbott stated that people of the community have informed him that they are experiencing a mental health crisis.
