Mystery surrounds prisoner’s escape with corrections officer

Following their disappearance, a manhunt is underway for a prison officer and a prisoner who were both charged with murder. Vicki White, the assistant director of prisons for the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, was last seen at 9.30 a.m. on Friday while transporting Casey White, a prisoner, to a mental health exam. The two are unrelated.

Ms. White told another officer she was leaving Mr. White off at the courts and then going to receive medical help because she wasn’t feeling well, according to CNN. When employees at the jail attempted to contact Ms. White and she did not answer her phone, they were concerned. They only discovered Casey White had not returned to the jail after this.

Casey White, who stands 6-foot-9 and is regarded as armed and dangerous, is a 6-foot-9 man. Vicki White, on the other side, “was equipped with a 9mm pistol, which means we’re thinking he’s armed,” according to LauderdaleCountySheriff Rick Singleton.

“Knowing the detainee, I believe she is in jeopardy regardless of the circumstances.” He was serving a life sentence for capital murder and had nothing to lose, according to Singleton. White, the escapee, is serving a 75-year term for a crime spree that occurred in 2015.

He was arrested in 2015 in connection with killing, but it was while inside that he got into more problems. He intended to break out of prison and kidnap someone in 2020. Authorities uncovered this plan and decided to scrap it. However, it compelled the office to enact a new regulation requiring two policemen to accompany the offender anytime he left his cell.

All parts of the incident are being investigated by police, including whether Ms. White assisted the offender in escaping. Vicki White was overpowered and abducted, according to County Sheriff Singleton; she supported convict Casey White in escaping, and if she did, whether she did so voluntarily or was pressured or threatened; and if she did, whether she did so willingly or was coerced or intimidated.

Ms. White’s performance in the part had been praised before this occurrence.
