On Friday, people in Colorado were hit by a late-spring storm that brought snow and cold temperatures. PowerOutage.US reported 115,113 people without power in the state as of late Saturday morning.

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, in Denver, a spring storm stormed through the intermountain West, blanketing the region with up to two feet of snow. The storm delivered bitterly cold temperatures and heavy, wet snow to an area that had been suffering from a severe drought for months.

The storm forced the New York Mets and Colorado Rockies to postpone their Major League Baseball (MLB) opening in Denver on Friday. The temperature plummeted over 60 degrees, and more than a foot of snow fell in places like the Black Forest and Aspen Park, according to the weather.

The weight of the snow caused trees to fall down. Inches of snow-covered seats and decks in photos shared on social media.

“Colorado is fantastic. It was 84 degrees one day and a foot and a half of snow the next. We’re delighted we launched the @NOAASatellites #GOES weather satellite “Tory Bruno, president and CEO of the United Launch Alliance (ULA), tweeted.

Some precipitation melted fast due to the warm pavement temperatures in the vicinity.

Officials have issued a warning about dangerous road conditions.

“Speeding is never a good idea, but inclement weather is approaching, and the roads will deteriorate. So, meow, be prepared and take it slowly.” The Colorado State Patrol issued a statement.

According to forecasts, Denver may receive up to five inches of snow by the end of the event, with up to a foot expected in higher altitudes.
