“I firmly feel that Pirates is poised for a revival with Johnny as Capt. Jack returning,” he stated. “There is simply too much potential box-office gold for a beloved figure firmly ingrained in Disney culture.”

Depp made his feature debut as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. The successful sequels were released in 2006, 2007, 2011, and 2017.

Another Hollywood insider feels Depp’s comeback is “not very likely,” adding that Depp will “return as a star, but they’d probably do Pirates 6 with Margot Robbie or someone similar.”
