Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has opinions about the renowned role played by Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. While rumors of future films in the well-liked franchise have garnered attention, it is still unclear whether Depp will be a part of them. But as Bruckheimer previously stated, Depp’s character cannot be written out.

Bruckheimer stated “You can’t” murder Jack Sparrow in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that was published on December 19. “We attempted to murder him. It was a failure.”

Bruckheimer added that he would welcome Depp’s return to the set after the actor won a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard this year.

“I would love to have him in the movie,” he told the outlet. “He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.”

In response to a question about whether Disney would cast Depp in other Pirates of the Caribbean movie following his well-reported trial, Bruckheimer stated, “You would need to ask them. I’m unable to respond to that query.”

A Virginia jury found Heard accountable for defaming Depp in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she identified herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” without mentioning the actor by name. The verdict was delivered on June 1. He received $5 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages from the jury. Later, to comply with the state’s statutory limit, Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Penney Azcarate decreased the punitive damages to $350,000.

Heard appealed the judgment but said in a statement on December 19 that she had decided to settle the lawsuit instead.

Depp’s acting career was brought up throughout the trial, and the 59-year-old said in testimony that he had no interest in reprising his role as Jack Sparrow.

“The truth is, Mr. Depp, there is nothing on Earth that could persuade you to return and collaborate with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, even if they offered you $300 million and a million alpacas. Correct?” Depp responded, “That is true,” while on the witness stand, in response to Heard’s attorney.

Despite saying he is through playing Jack Sparrow in movies, it is probably reasonable to assume that Depp won’t be hanging up the pirate garb anytime soon. Depp reenacted the adored part earlier this month to create a video for an 11-year-old fan named Kori who is undergoing palliative care.

Depp played Jack Sparrow in the video, which was produced in association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and he was shown congratulating Kori on the launch of his new YouTube channel, Kraken the Box. In the video, Depp said, “I am your No. 1 fan, Captain Kori,” after saying that he would watch the kid’s videos.

The actor offered to Kori over a FaceTime session that they “knight” him like a pirate. The moment was truly priceless.

Therefore, Depp still does a great job portraying Jack, but it seems that only time will tell if the actor will fully return to the ship.
