ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has sent a summary to the federal cabinet regarding the provision of the Pakistan Army on the security issues of the general elections.
The army will be deployed for general election security after the approval of the caretaker federal cabinet of the summary sent by the Ministry of Interior.
Sources said that the Election Commission of Pakistan had asked for 277,000 military personnel, Pakistan Army, Rangers, and FC personnel will be posted in the general elections.
It should be noted that the general elections in the country are to be held on February 8, for which preparations have entered the final stages, the ECP has also frozen the funds of all local government departments.
Earlier, Caretaker Federal Minister of Communications Shahid Ashraf Tarar visited the control room established in the Ministry of Interior for monitoring of security arrangements and law and order situation during the general election 2024.
The caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar appointed Shahid Ashraf Tarar as the Chairman of the Committee for the Security and Administrative Affairs of General Elections 2024.
The coordinator National Action Plan briefed the minister in detail about the functioning of the control room on behalf of the Secretary of Interior Aftab Akbar Durrani, who was also present in the meeting.
