PESHAWAR: The Appellate Tribunal allowed Pakistan Tehreek Insaf(PTI) leader Azam Swati to contest the Senate elections.
PTI leader Azam Swati filed an appeal against the rejection of nomination papers for the general seat of the Senate, on which the judge of the Appellate Tribunal, Justice Shakeel Ahmed, gave a reserved decision today.
The Appellate Tribunal accepted the nomination papers of PTI leader Azam Swati to contest the general seat of the Senate.
Justice Shakeel Ahmed said that the decision would be issued later on the appeal for the technocrat seat.
Earlier, Lahore High Court’s Appellate Tribunal granted permission for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Sanam Javed to participate in the Senate elections, following her successful appeal on Friday.
Sanam had contested the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan, which initially rejected her nomination papers. The tribunal upheld her appeal against this rejection.
Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, presiding over the tribunal, delivered the verdict that had been reserved on Thursday after arguments from both parties were concluded.
