Eidul Fitr Holiday Declared in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has declared a four-day holiday for Eid al-Fitr, commencing on Monday, April 8th, applicable to both public and private sector employees.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has officially ratified the holiday, offering most workers respite from Monday through Saturday to mark Eid al-Fitr.

The holiday spans from Monday to Thursday, April 11th, with Friday and Saturday constituting the regular weekend, resulting in a six-day break for residents.

Employees in both sectors are scheduled to resume work on Sunday, April 14th, following the holiday period.

In other developments, a Saudi official has disclosed that the allowance for Muslim worshippers to engage in the Islamic practice of Itikaf at the Grand Mosque during Ramadan has doubled to accommodate 6,000 individuals.

Abdulmohsen Al Ghamdi, the head of the Guidance and Consulting Department at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, announced that three floors have been specifically designated for Itikaf participants this year.

He informed Saudi TV Al Ekhbariya that compared to the previous year, the authorized number for Itikaf has increased twofold to 6,000, with 1,000 spots allocated for women.

Al Ghamdi noted that last year’s allowance was $3,000, indicating a 100% rise this year due to directives and planning.

Registration for Itikaf at the Grand Mosque commenced on the 7th day of Ramadan, with the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques confirming that registration will remain open until all designated spots for Itikaf are occupied.
