The Filipino community constitutes a significant portion of the population in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), comprising 6.8 per cent of the total populace.
Approximately 700,000 Filipinos reside in the UAE, actively participating in various occupations and businesses within the Gulf nation.
All UAE citizens and residents, including Filipinos, must acquire the Emirates ID card by completing the necessary procedures, paying the stipulated fee, and submitting the required documentation.
The Emirates ID card holds legal importance for all UAE inhabitants, enabling smooth access to government services; failure to possess it may lead to complications.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) of the United Arab Emirates is responsible for issuing Emirates ID cards to both citizens and expatriates residing in the country.
Individuals, including nationals from the UAE and GCC countries and expatriates from the Philippines and Bangladesh, can apply for a new Emirates ID card through the ICP website or authorized typing centers.
Applicants may be required to visit one of ICP’s service centers to provide biometric details during the application process.
