The Punjab government has taken proactive measures to safeguard students from the scorching summer heat by announcing new school timings for regular classes. This decision, outlined in a notification by the provincial education department, aims to prioritize the well-being and comfort of students during the hotter months.

Under the new schedule, schools in Punjab will operate from 7:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on regular days, with classes concluding at 11:45 a.m. on Fridays. This adjustment ensures that students are not exposed to the peak heat hours during their commute to and from school.

For double-shift schools, the timing is set from 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the first shift and from 12:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. for the second shift. This arrangement accommodates the needs of schools with multiple sessions while considering the comfort of students and staff.

It is important to note that the provincial authorities regularly review and adjust school timing based on weather conditions and security considerations. This proactive approach reflects the government’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for students across Punjab.

Previously, school timings were modified for the winter season, particularly from February to April 15, to address extreme cold weather conditions. During this period, regular classes in boys’ schools in the provincial capital and other cities were scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while classes in girls’ schools were conducted from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
