During Ramadan, the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) achieved its highest-ever sales, totaling Rs. 44 billion.
The USC spokesperson praised the corporation for not only meeting but surpassing sales goals. They highlighted the crucial role of the government’s subsidy of Rs 12.5 billion, administered through USC, in guaranteeing the accessibility and affordability of essential goods during Ramadan.
The spokesperson emphasized the significance of modern technology and computerization in optimizing USC operations. They mentioned that the integration of advanced technology has facilitated the effective monitoring of transactions, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the process.
During FY23, the corporation achieved its highest-ever sales record of Rs. 137.155 billion. The net profit for the state-run utility in the previous financial year reached Rs. 764 million. This surge was credited to government subsidies on crucial items such as flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, and rice.
For three consecutive years, USC has maintained profitability. In FY22, the sales figure reached Rs. 112.32 billion, while in FY21, it amounted to Rs. 120.24 billion.
