Spotify New Basic Plan Excludes Audiobooks!
Spotify, the leading music streaming service, introduced a new basic subscription tier on Friday, priced at $11 per month, which excludes monthly audiobook listening.
The new Spotify Basic plan, currently exclusive to US subscribers, removes the 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening and grants access solely to music and podcasts.
Spotify recently announced its second price hike in less than a year, with its Premium plan increasing from $11 to $12 per month, the Duo plan from $15 to $17 per month, and the Family plan from $17 to $20 per month.
The company also launched a new Audiobooks Access plan at $10 per month for book enthusiasts, offering 15 hours of audiobook listening each month alongside music access.
Spotify is anticipated to unveil additional new plans or pricing adjustments later this year. The Sweden-based music streaming service is also exploring the possibility of a “HiFi” plan, with indications pointing to a new $5 per month high-resolution audio “add-on” potentially becoming available by year-end.
