ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police arrested a gang involved robbery worth of millions of rupees in the federal capital.
The accused had robbed a cash van outside the bank in Farash Town on August 27. The accused escaped with Rs 3.68 million in two bags from the cash van.
One security guard was killed and two guards were injured by the firing of the accused.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Mustafa Tanveer said that 19.7 million have been recovered from the two arrested accused. Efforts are on to arrest two more members of the group. 2 vehicles and weapons were also recovered from the possession of the accused.
The DIG further said that the accused are also involved in inter-provincial robbery cases, the main accused of the gang is also involved in robbery cases in Karachi.
Earlier, Sindh Police rescued 12 people belonging to Okara district of Punjab in Kashmore district from being kidnapped.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bashir Brohi, 12 people from Okara have been saved from being kidnapped by bandits.
SSP Bashir Brohi said that all the persons belong to the same family, including women and children.
