Traders Union of Karachi announced on Tuesday that they will observe a sit-in on MA Jinnah Road on Friday over rising issues in the city and administration’s incapability to offer solutions for them.
The President of traders Union Atiq Mir, has asked concerned departments to clean Karachi within three days and also demanded rapid action against the amassed issues being faced by Karachi-ites.
He further stated that this sit-in can extend if the local government decides to turn a deaf ear and don’t pay attention to the problems and cleanliness situation in the city. Those in-charge must resolve sewerage problems, he added.
Earlier, Clean Karachi Campaign, which was initiated by the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Ali Zaidi, has been stopped on Tuesday.
Staff of Frontier Works Organization (FWO) & heavy machinery, which was working on the drainage canals of the metropolis has been called back, according to details.
The Clean Karachi Campaign has been stopped on special orders given by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, who directed that the work will remain suspended till Muharram ul Haram.
According to the spokesperson of Ali Zaidi, garbage taken out from the drainage canals will be moved to landfill site with effective priority.
