PPP’s defeat in the by-election is sufficient to open their eyes: Firdous Ashiq
While reacting to the by-election results in PS-11, Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday has said that Larkana is no more stronghold of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
The reaction came after Moazim Ali Abbasi of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) defeated his main rival from PPP Jameel Ahmed Soomro by 5,536 votes in by-election of Sindh Assembly constituency PS-11-Larkana-II on October 17.
According to unofficial and unverified result, Moazim Ali Abbasi bagged 31,557 votes to win the by-polls whereas Jameel Ahmed Soomro remained second by getting 26,021 votes.
In a tweet, the special assistant said the narrative of those making hue and cry over rigging has failed, adding that PPP’s defeat in the by-election is sufficient to open their eyes.

She said this by-election also carries a lesson for those demanding fresh polls in the country.
Earlier, a tight electoral contest was expected between two candidates including Pakistan People’s Party’s Jameel Ahmed Soomro, who is political secretary of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Moazzam Ali Khan Abbasi of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA).
The joint candidate of GDA and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Moazzam Ali Khan Abbasi, told media that he is confident for his victory in the by-polls as the people of Larkana are well-aware of the corrupt practices of the PPP leaders.
He said that the PPP leaders are deprived of morality by taking part in the by-election after destroying the Larkana city.
