FFC requests all stakeholders of country to initiate requisite action

Federal flood commission request to all stakeholders of the country to initiate requisite action on the preparation of respective contingency plans including all related preparatory works.

Provincial irrigation departments and federal line agencies to ensure completion of all approved/ongoing flood protection schemes taken up under GOP funded flood programme. Rehabilitation/strengthening works at all vulnerable locations and weak sections of flood protection infrastructure, besides, completion of 2019-flood damages restoration works.

Timely completion of routine O&M works related to Barrages/head works/bridges, irrigation , drainage and flood protection infrastructure. Ensuring pre monsoon inspections of flood protection infrastructure jointly with concerned corps of engineers of Pak Army to ascertain existing infrastructure condition, implementation of plan for their strengthening and execution of all rehabilitation works before start of monsoon season 2020. FFC instruct that vigorous follow up of pending cases of fund releases under normal/emergent flood Programme (2019-20) for their early release and utilization well with in June 30, 2020.

Ensuring enactment of River act based on approval from the respective Provincial Governments Cabinets well before 30th June, 2020 to effectively implement flood plains regulation. Removal of encroachments from flood plains/high risk zones, waterways, which are under the threat of flood water and also causing hindrance in flood flows. Progress be submitted to FFC on fortnightly basis till completion of the task and also complete before monsoon season. FFC asked finalize respective District/Division wise flood plans, keeping in view lessons learn from the past flood events and ensue their circulation among concerned organizations including FFC well in time for adoption during 2020 monsoon season.

FFC instruct to all stakeholders they share lists of all vulnerable locations along with their respective flood fighting/contingency plans clearly outlining the flood combating strategy in case of likely floods during monsoon season and above actions are completed before 30th June, 2020.
