A decision was taken to impose selected lockdown in different areas of Rawalpindi affected by COVID-19, for which Additional Chief Secretary Punjab issued a notification.

According to details, a complete lockdown has been carried out in the areas affected by Coronavirus in Rawalpindi Cantt and Rawal Town. The ban will remain in force till June 30 in the areas sealed during the lockdown.

The notification said that dairy and meat shops in the lockdown areas would be open from 7 am to 7 pm while pharmacies, laboratories and medical stores would be open 24 hours a day.

The notification also said that lockdown in Sadiqabad, Dhok Paracha, Dhok Kashmirian, Dhok Kala Khan, Qayyumabad, Re Road, Dhok Ali Akbar, Magistrate Colony, Affandi Colony, A and C blocks of Satellite Town in Rawalpindi. The areas of Rawalpindi Cantt include Dheri Hassanabad, Tahli Mori, Ghousia Chowk, Tench Bhatta Allama Iqbal Colony and some other areas.

According to the notification, no socio-religious and other gatherings will be allowed in the lockdown areas while grocery, general store grocery shops, flour mills, vegetable and fruit shops, ovens and petrol pumps will be open in these areas from 9 am to 7 pm.

The notification issued by the government said that limited staff would be allowed in the banks during the lockdown while duty orders issued by their respective departments would be issued to those residing in closed areas. Will be allowed to show

It also said that in case of funeral, limited number of people will be allowed to travel for funeral prayers and burial and media representatives residing in the areas will be allowed to travel after issuance of certificates by the Information Department.

The notification further said that during the lockdown, only a limited number of people have been allowed to visit the grocery and pharmacy sections of the major department stores located in the areas while only takeaways will be allowed from the restaurants located in the areas.

According to Deputy Commissioner Anwar-ul-Haq, the lockdown in different areas of Rawalpindi will be strictly enforced.
