Four bodies and seven injured retrieved from the site of the multi-storey residential building collapse after the first phase of rescue operations completed on Friday.

According to the details in the second phase of the rescue and relief operation, the debris of the building will be disposed-off and in the third phase, the causes behind the building collapse and responsible hands would be determined.

Troops of Pakistan Army, Sindh Rangers, Police, and Social Welfare organizations contributed to the operation.

Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials said that the collapsed residential building in Korangi was constructed on China cutting land.

According to SBCA officials, the building was located on a welfare plot and was built on a land of the playground.

Officials said there was a risk of damage to two surrounding buildings as the building collapsed, and a technical team would inspect and give clearance.

The administration says evacuation orders were issued two days ago and all but one or two families left the building.

Eyewitnesses present on the spot said that people were still inside the building. After the rains, water had accumulated in the basement of the building.
