PML-N Leader Captain (R) Safdar arrested from hotel in Karachi

Police on Monday arrested Senior Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (R) Safdar from his hotel room in Karachi.

According to the details, the son in law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was taken into custody after he was booked in a case pertaining to the violation of the sanctity of Mazar-e-Quaid where he had chanted the slogan “vote ko izzat do (honor the vote)” and urged people to join him, while on a visit to the mausoleum with Maryam Nawaz.

PML-N vice president wrote on Twitter. “Police broke my room door at the hotel I was staying at in Karachi and arrested Capt. Safdar.”

Earlier The PML-N vice-leader Maryam Nawaz while addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally in Karachi. Maryam Nawaz opened her speech by thanking the citizens of Karachi for their warm welcome and said,

“Today, I found no difference in the roads of Lahore and Karachi. I am overwhelmed by your love.”

Maryam visited Karachi after a long time period and recalled meeting with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

“When I came to Karachi today, I thought of Benazir Bhutto. I met her once, for 3 hours, in Saudi Arabia. She ate with me. She spoke to me like a mother.”

Let it be known that the Captain (R) Safdar’s arrest occurred after PTI MPAs Raja Azhar Khan, Haleem Adil Sheikh and others from the party submitted an application at the Brigade police station, asking the police to register a case against PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz, Captain Safdar, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Ali Akbar Gujjar and approximately 200 others.

As per the application,  the PTI leaders accused the latter of violating the mausoleum’s sanctity by crossing the metal barrier encircling Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s grave and shouting slogans that “disrespected” the site and “hurt the sentiments” of the people.

The application further stated that the incident, occurring around 5:30 pm.

PML-N leader Capt. Safdar addressed the supporters in Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum with his shoes on.
