The Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Thursday has inaugurated the long-delayed Firdous Market underpass aka Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Lahore.

According to the details, the Chief Minister’s Advisor on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan said the Buzdar government practically implements all its promises made to the public.

Firdous Ashiq Awan, while addressing media on the occasion, said that the underpass project, will benefit in traffic jams and it is the gift to the people of Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had laid the foundation stone of the project on May 18, 2020, whereas Rs1.76 billion were earmarked for the project, which also included the land acquisition cost, as the construction cost was estimated at Rs1.09 billion.

The Punjab government conducted a transparent tendering process and awarded the construction contract for Rs960 million, thus saving Rs130 million of the nation’s money.

The 540-meter-long two-lane underpass would facilitate traffic from the adjoining areas with special arrangements for water disposal.

In addition to this, the project would also benefit more than 91,000 vehicles daily and save fuel worth millions of rupees annually.
