COVID-19: Parts of Peshawar to go under smart lockdown from today

The local administration of Peshawar has imposed a smart lockdown in some neighborhoods to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

A notification has also been issued in this regard, according to which; a smart lockdown has been imposed in five neighborhoods of Peshawar.

These include Park Road, Sectors E-VI and N-IV of Hayatabad, Hayatabad Industrial Estate, Peshawar Cantt, Old Jamrud Road, and University Town area bound by Circular Lane,

The notification said that the smart lockdown in the above-mentioned areas will be imposed today at 6 pm. No gatherings are allowed, with congregations in mosques restricted to five people. Moreover, all shops except pharmacies, food supplies, tandoors and general stores will remain closed.

The district administrators and police are directed to ensure the implementation of coronavirus guidelines in the areas.

In the past 24 hours, 40 more people succumbed to the novel coronavirus, taking the death toll to 8,091. Whereas after the country reported fresh 2,458 COVID-19 cases, the national tally hits 400,482. As many as 1,863 patients have recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours and 2,165 patients are in critical condition.

The positivity rate of COVID-19 cases reaches up to 5.9 percent during 24 hours. The total count of active cases increased up to 49,105.
