A paramilitary soldier was injured when unknown miscreants hurled crackers at Sheikh Zayed gate of Karachi University, triggering fear and panic.
According to the details, the injured soldier was shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. Contingents of police and Rangers rushed to the spot and launched a search operation in the adjoining areas.
Police said that further investigation is underway.
The attack came few hours after a terror bid was foiled when Bomb Disposal Squad defused a magnetic bomb from a vehicle parked near Bilawal House in Karachi.
SSP Zubair Nazir said a 200-meter area was cordoned off and people evacuated as the BDS inspected the explosive-ridden vehicle.
Two unidentified men on a motorcycle planted a remote-controlled explosive device attached with a magnet on a vehicle parked in Clifton. Sindh Police said it rescued two foreigners from inside the vehicle and moved them to an undisclosed location.
Police said the bomb was a remote-controlled magnetic device that had been attached to a moving vehicle and contained more than a kilogram of black explosives. The detonator in the device exploded with mild intensity but the device could not explode completely due to a technical glitch.
