Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday extended interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Leaders Ayaz Sadiq, Salman Rafique and others in 2018 cases of violent protests.

According to the details, during the proceedings, the lawyers contended that the police lodged the case on a political basis as their clients were not involved in any violence.

Judge Ejaz Ahmed extended bails of the accused until the next hearing after hearing arguments of their lawyers.

Speaking to the media after the case hearing, Ayaz Sadiq said the 11-party opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will not relax until the current government of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf is ousted.

He said that the PDM is in a decisive phase. A long march and resignations will now follow on.”

It may be recalled that Ayaz Sadiq and other PML-N leaders were booked on charges of resorting to violent protests when former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League Supremo Nawaz Sharif returned to the country to serve his sentence in July 2018.

On Thursday the lawmakers of PML-N tendered their resignations from assembly seats to the party Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

The resignations have been tendered after Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership asked the parliamentarians to do so by December 31 in a move to build pressure to the government of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).
