NEPRA Forms Three-Member Committee To Investigate Power Breakdown

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has set up a three-member committee to investigate the power breakdown.

According to details, the committee headed by Nadir Ali Khoso will find out the reasons for the nationwide blackout.

The inquiry committee will determine those responsible for the blackout in 15 days.

The committee will review the seriousness of the efforts for timely restoration of power and will also look into the investigation of past blackouts.

It may be recalled that on the night of January 9, there was a major power breakdown in the country due to a fault in the National Grid Station, which plunged almost the entire country into darkness.

Different parts of the country including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore experience major power breakdown.

Islamabad’s red zone area among major places of the capital plunged into darkness after the power breakdown.

The National Power Control Center confirmed a complete breakdown across the country. Darkness throughout the city including Raja Bazaar, Sadiqabad, Tench.

Karachi power outage Large areas of the city are without electricity. Power outages in North Karachi, Federal B Area, Lyari, Korangi, and other areas. NTDC is investigating the cause of the power outage.

NTDC’s 500 KV system tripped. Power transmission system affected due to system tripping. The power transmission system affected Lahore. Gujranwala Faisalabad. Supply suspended in Multan and Karachi.

According to the details, the power supply from Tarbela Mangla has also been suspended. NTDC spokesperson said that system is being checked.
