Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed authorities to strictly ensure the implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and highlighted that the third-wave is more lethal in comparison to the earlier two.

According to the details, a meeting of National Coordination Committee (NCC) for COVID-19 was held in Islamabad. Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting via video link.

The meeting discussed the prevailing situation of the pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that, ‘We cannot afford a complete lockdown, as it will affect the working class.’ Imran Khan added that the health protocols must be followed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Imran Khan said that, ‘The smart lockdown policy will remain in place, our smart lockdown policy has been successful before as well.’

Let it be known that Pakistan recorded 78 more deaths due to Coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

According to latest statistics issued by National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,757 new positive cases have been reported in the country after conducting tests of 43,965 people during the same period.

Moreover the death toll due to COVID-19 pandemic has now reached 14,434 while the number of active cases is 50,397. As many as 603,126 patients have been recovered from the disease since outbreak.
