Chairman National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar on Tuesday said the country, for the first time, administered more than 9 lakh Covid-19 vaccine jabs in a single day on July 31.

Asad Umar said on Twitter, “vaccination records continue to be set daily. 5th straight day record vaccinations carried out. Yesterday the vaccination number crossed 9 lakh for the first time. 2,600 vaccination centres & 2,979 mobile units operating across Pakistan, to make this massive campaign possible.”

In the last 24 hours, more than 4,000 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan. The positivity was 8.46% during the last 24 hours.

The National Command and Operations Center said that 65 patients died in the last 24 hours, after which the total number of deaths from coronavirus rose to 23,360.

The NCOC says that 4,950 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 1,029,811.

The number of active cases of coronavirus in the country is 66,287 while the total number of recovered patients has reached 940,164.

According to the NCOC, 58,479 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate in the country stood at 8.46%, with 3,187 active cases while 631 patients are in critical condition.

According to the NCOC, 39% of coronavirus ventilators are in use in Islamabad, 21% in Lahore, 28% in Peshawar and 18% in Karachi.

In Peshawar, 33 per cent of oxygen beds are used by coronavirus patients, in Abbottabad 45 per cent, in Karachi 55 per cent and in Gilgit 39 per cent oxygen beds are used.

The NCOC said that out of the reported cases of coronavirus in the country, 380,093 were in Sindh, 356,211 in Punjab, 143,637 in Pakhtunkhwa, 87,304 in Islamabad and Gilgit. 8,906 cases have been reported in Baltistan and 30 in Karachi.

Vaccination status

So far, 2,33,35,634 people in the country have been vaccinated with one dose of the vaccine while 63,12,421 people have been vaccinated with both doses.
