Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain while condemning the Ganesh Temple incident in Rahim Yar Khan said that those who hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community should be punished.

Talking about the Ganesh Mandir incident at Rahim Yar Khan on Friday, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting said that the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of Pakistan have taken personal notice of the matter.

He said that Pakistan is not India, no fascist ideology can rule here, we have a duty to respect the two colours in the flag of Pakistan.

He elucidated, “we have a duty to sanctify both the colours in the flag of Pakistan. For us, white is as sacred as green. The white colour indicates the rights of the minorities living in Pakistan.”

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the political and military leadership and the courts recognize the Constitution of Pakistan for a progressive country that promises the protection of the rights of minorities.

“We must stand up against those who target our Pakistani brothers on the basis of race, colour or creed,” he said.

The Federal Minister for Information said that inshallah the future of Pakistan is a progressive country where minorities are completely safe.

Note that, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the immediate arrest of the accused involved in the attack on the Hindu temple in Rahim Yar Khan and said that the expenses for the restoration of the temple should also be borne by the accused.

The case of an attack on the temple in Rahim Yar Khan was heard by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Qazi Amin on Friday.

IG Punjab, Secretary Punjab and Additional Advocate General appeared before the court.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that it had been three days since the incident but not a single person had been arrested so far.

Expressing anger at the policemen, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the SHO who arrested the eight-year-old boy should be sacked.

To this IG Punjab replied that the police officer has been suspended and departmental action will be taken against him but he has the right to work.

The Supreme Court has sought a report from the IG Punjab and the Chief Secretary within a week and adjourned the hearing till August 13.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday announced the restoration of the Hindu temple which was damaged by a charged mob in Bhong village of Punjab’s Rahim Yar Khan district.

The Premier said on Twitter, “Strongly condemn attack on Ganesh Mandir in Bhung, RYK yesterday. I have already asked IG Punjab to ensure the arrest of all culprits & take action against any police negligence. The govt will also restore the Mandir.”
