President Arif Alvi acknowledges army’s ‘unparalleled contribution and sacrifices’
President Arif Alvi on Wednesday acknowledged the army for its “unparalleled contribution and sacrifices” towards the “external and internal security of Pakistan”, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A press release issued by the military’s media wing said that the president visited the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi today.
During his visit, President Alvi met the Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed regional developments and matters of national security.
Apart from his meeting with the COAS, the president was briefed on the “operational preparedness” of the army. In addition to that, the president was also given a briefing on cyber security by the communication and information technology branch of the army.
“President acknowledged unparalleled contribution and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army towards external and internal security of Pakistan,” said the ISPR. It added that the president commended the army for its “prowess in the field of information technology and coordination mechanisms with other services and stakeholders”.
Earlier on his arrival, President Alvi was received by General Bajwa and was presented with a guard of honour. He had also laid a floral wreath and offered a fateha at the Martyrs Monument.
