KARACHI: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took back his words about disrupting the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, which is being held in Islamabad, after backlash from the masses.

“Bilawal Bhutto’s statement about the OIC meeting was irresponsible,” Shah Mahmood Qureshi said talking to Bol news channel programme ‘Dunya Bol Hai’.

On March 19, Bilawal had threatened that the opposition would hold sit-in protest inside the National Assembly, where the OIC session is scheduled to be held, if the speaker did not hold no-confidence motion prior to the international meeting. The next day, the opposition had walked back the statement.

FM Qureshi said for the first time the Chinese foreign minister would address the OIC session. It was an honour for Pakistan to host the meeting, he said.

He also said Pakistan had cordial relations with Europe and it desired to have good relations with all the countries.

On no-trust motion, the foreign minister said the government had no worry about it until it had people’s confidence. He said the masses would announce to support Imran Khan on March 27 in Islamabad.

On March 20, Bilawal Zardari had said that National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser was violating the Constitution as he had not called the NA session as per the law.

He had said this while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
