Shehbaz resolves to work closely with UK govt

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked his British counterpart for his message of felicitation on becoming the PM.

He said Pakistan and United Kingdom shared deep-rooted and broad-based ties.

Shehbaz resolved to working closely with the UK government to further expand longstanding friendship and take multifaceted relationship to the next level.

Earlier, UK PM Boris Johnson congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on his election as prime minister.

In a tweet, he said the United Kingdom and Pakistan had a longstanding relationship and their people shared deep ties. He expressed hope for working together on areas of shared interest.

In a congratulatory message, Li Keqiang said China and Pakistan were unique all-weather strategic cooperative partners.

Li Keqiang said, “Bilateral relations and friendship have experienced great changes and have always been rock-solid and unbreakable.

“In the face of profound and complex changes in international and regional situation and amid the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic, China and Pakistan have helped each other to overcome difficulties and the ironclad China-Pakistan friendship continues to grow.”

He said he looked forward to working together with Shehbaz Sharif to carry forward the two countries’ traditional friendship, consolidate mutual political trust and promote the high-quality construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Meanwhile, the premier expressed willingness to deepen the all-around, pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.

He also expressed his belief that Pakistan will accomplish new achievements in promoting national stability, development and progress.
