KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh Police killed two suspected militants in an intelligence-based operation in Karachi and foiled a potential terror plot, according to officials.
An exchange of fire took place between CTD and intelligence agencies in Maripur area of Karachi last night.
Two alleged terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire while two managed to escape.
Authorities say weapons and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
Authorities further added the dead terrorists belonged to a banned separatist group (Sindh Revolutionary Army) identified as Allah Dino and Nawab.

One of the dead suspects is said to be the main culprit in the terrorist attack in Sadar.
Earlier on Tuesday, in light of the soaring terrorism in the metropolitan city, Karachi police convened an emergency meeting to discuss the overall security situation.
The sources privy to the matter disclosed that a security plan would be carved and discussions would be held to decide on the security SOPs of patrolling police mobiles, motorcycles and personnel.
The agenda of making Karachi more peaceful and secure would also be part of the meeting.

The development came after the horrible blast incident that claimed the life of a woman and left 11 others injured on Monday night.
The incident took place at the Kharadar area of Karachi at Iqbal market and as per sources, a police mobile van and a number of motorcycles have been damaged in the blast.
Police sources said their van might be the target of the explosion and ostensibly the 2 kg bomb was planted in a bike.
